The intrepid group of 30 have formed themselves in three teams who will each compete in a bid to raise money for the NSPCC. The teams are being headed by ByBox CEO Stuart Miller, CTO Dan Turner and Managing Director Mark Garritt. ByBox has already pledged to donate £1 per mile for each team and they hope that with additional sponsorship they will raise £10,000. Customers such as Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd have given the teams a helping hand in reaching the finishing line. All monies raised will be given to the NSPCC’s Boole House counselling project in Coventry which is totally reliant on charitable donations. The tandem race is a first for the company but is one which Stuart Miller is adamant will form part of the yearly calendar. A keen cyclist himself Stuart says they have had a lot of fun practicing for the race but also revealed there have been a few mishaps. “One of the biggest hurdles to overcome is getting people to pedal in unison, however once they have got the knack it is plain sailing. The practice sessions have been quite amusing to say the least and have been a lot of fun.” The race is the first major fundraising event which ByBox has undertaken since the company announced that they were adopting the NSPCC as its nominated charity at the opening of its 100,000 sq ft hub. The hub was opened by Sir Nick Scheele, Honorary President of the NSPCC Coventry Business Group who was presented with a cheque for £1500 for the charity. Stuart Miller continued: “The NSPCC is an extremely important charity and one which does excellent work. We hope that this will be the first of many fundraising activities over the coming year.” Formed in 200 ByBox has become the UK’s leading force in in-night parts distribution. With its central hub in Coventry the company has nine depots across the UK and employs over 200 people. |
