Business process outsourcing company, ITNET, has announced that Birmingham city council, the authority that deals with one of the UK's biggest cities, has extended its IT contract with the firm in a new seven year, £6.3m deal. ITNET has been supplying IT services to the council, including infrastructure, application management and printing services, since 1989. In addition, it has also taken on a number of additional ICT projects for Birmingham's local government, the main one being to assist council employees in their preparations to put authority services online, helping it to meet its e-government targets. Glyn Evans, the director of IT for Birmingham, told technology reporters that the council has enjoyed an excellent working relationship with ITNET. 'For the past seven years ITNET has supported us through the difficult transition from mainframe to departmental processes and has always been a valuable business partner, ensuring ROI from our IT function,' he added. |
