Spending on IT services is estimated to have risen by more than 6% last year to be worth $569 billion according to research firm Gartner. And outsourcing is expected to drive that growth further this year. "Outsourcing is the main engine for IT services," said Kathryn Hale, a Gartner analyst. "Through 2004, outsourcing will continue to drive the growth in the worldwide IT services market, with IT management and process management growing faster than consulting services and development and integration services," she said. IBM remains top of the IT services heap with 7.5 percent of the market and is continuing to grow faster than the market. It is followed by EDS and then Fujitsu - the only other company to be growing faster than the market. Computer Services Corp overtook Hewlett-Packard and Accenture is still in sixth place. |
