FieldCentrix targets Oracle users

US-based mobile service management system specialist FieldCentrix is gunning for Oracle’s JD Edwards users with an ‘aggressively priced product bundle’ but insists it is not going into competition with the major.

Called FX Express for JD Edwards, the pre-packaged offering aims to include everything users of its EnterpriseOne and World products would need to integrate the FieldCentrix Enterprise field service solution.  New implementations from JD Edwards, a former software vendor now part of the Oracle family following industry acquisitions, are still being sold and there is a competitive market among value added resellers (VARs).

A spokesman for FieldCentrix said the company had been a certified JD Edwards systems integrator and its ‘partner of choice for field service’.   She added that the companies had a history of successful collaborations and integrations.

Following the acquisition of JD Edwards by Peoplesoft, FieldCentrix became a Peoplesoft partner and although the product’s name was changed to become part of the Peoplesoft portfolio, the integration partnership continued as Peoplesoft did not have it own field service component.  ‘They worked with us as a preferred field service provider as well with those two product lines only’ she said.

However the customer relationship management (CRM) suite of Oracle, which acquired Peoplesoft last year, does have a field service module.   But FieldCentrix says this is not integrated with JD Edwards ‘and we know it will be a number of years before it does.’ This is believed to part of Oracle’s Project Fusion to bring these products together..

She said FieldCentrix was now working as an independent software vendor in conjunction with Oracle to provide JD Edwards’ World and EnterpriseOne customers with a ‘complete mobile field service automation solution’.   She claimed Oracle is supportive of this ‘because it has vowed to support the existing JD Edwards user base - they even changed the names of the products back to JD Edwards World and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne.’

There are VARS looking for new applications to sell to the existing JDE user base FX Express is an option in field service.  ‘We are only looking to help them sell more JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and World product, not poach any customers,’ said the spokesman.

Bullet point features of the solution are:

  • FX Service Center for dispatch, scheduling and service management
  • FX Mobile wireless workflow software
  • FX Interchange) for JD Edwards integration interface
  • Optional mobile devices
  • Optional wireless data service

‘FX Express provides the fastest and most affordable way for JD Edwards users to embed best-practice mobile field service into their organisations, while completely leveraging their existing ERP/CRM investment," said Scott Hiraoka, president of FieldCentrix. ‘Using FX Express's built-in expertise and established integration points with JD Edwards virtually eliminates the development time and resources needed to mobilise a field workforce and accelerates the proven benefits and ROI FieldCentrix brings to the table.’
