Struggling Netherlands based IT services and support company Getronics has announced seven global centres of excellence to support its new portfolio as part of its recovery strategy. Its Network and Desktop Outsourcing centre, which will handle areas such managed services desk, desktop services, network services, asset management, remote systems management, data centre services and technology deployment. It will be based in north America. The other centres are Server and Network Integration (to be hosed in the UK), Application Integration and Management, Storage, Security, Converged Communications, Mobility and Enterprise Content Management. Each centre will be run by a global director. Getronics chief executive Klaas Wagenaar said: 'This new focused portfolio is at the heart of the company's strategy. It allows us to present a broader and more coherent range of higher value services to our clients alongside our core Network and Desktop Outsourcing Business. We see this as an essential part of our framework for profitable growth.' The company has wrestled with many problems many stemming from rapid growth by acquisition including Wang as well as some clashes within the senior management. It is growing in confidence that it is emerging from the problems. Stuart Appleton, senior vice president strategy and communication, said: 'Over the past months we have put the people, the processes and the tools in place. With this new portfolio we will put our skills to work where the market will value them most.' We can now offer best in class ICT solutions and services based upon our core competences. Our aim is to remain to be the long term trusted ICT partner for major organisations in the geographies in which the company operates. Also this week, Gerard Schiebroek has been promoted to vice president of its Getronics' Global Service Centre activities for Europe and the Middle East. He will report directly to the Getronics board member Kevin Roche. |
