Axios Systems, one of the very first companies to achieve BS15000 certification, has announced that it is withdrawing its official participation. And even though the departing company promises it will continue to promote the BS15000 scheme's benefits, the departure of its very first awardee leaves its future in some doubt. BS15000 was initially touted as the first worldwide standard aimed specifically at IT service management and based on the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL). The certification scheme itself was launched by the IT Service Management Forum (itSMF), in conjunction with the BSA last year to provide independent verification against the standard. Discord which has arisen within the IT service management community surrounding the scheme and Axios’s position in it has led it to conclude that it should unilaterally resign its accreditation, Ailsa Symeonides, the company’s sales and marketing director, told IT service management reporters. ‘As a vendor, we believe we have a responsibility to the market to step down in order to ensure we cannot be accused of jeopardising the scheme and causing confusion,’ she added. |
