Integrated enterprise software company, Epicor Software, has announced that the US based Experience Music Project (EMP) is achieving improved efficiency and cost-savings by using Epicor Procurement, a purchasing management program that connects buyers and suppliers. EMP is a music museum combining interactive and interpretive exhibits to tell the story of the creative, innovative and rebellious expression in American music, and it specialises in creating engaging exhibits that involve visitors in the music experience. Furthermore, Seattle-based EMP refreshes its exhibits throughout the year - a task that requires 215 employees and demands a technology infrastructure that can handle the organisation's purchasing and accounting functions with precision and efficiency. Part of Epicor for Non-Profit Organisations, an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution, the company says that its procurement product provides EMP with the ability to obtain and document approval prior to incurring purchase costs, and allows management to review account coding as well as track and approve expenditures by project. According to Paula Reeves, purchasing specialist for EMP, Epicor Procurement saves EMP approximately 15 man-hours a week in its accounting department, which no longer has to send invoices out to departments for coding and approval thanks to the automated workflow functionality. 'The flexibility of Epicor Procurement enables us to route requisitions for approval by project code as well as by dollar amount or account code, which makes for more accurate tracking of expenditures,' she told SM365.
