Business service management (BSM) software designer, Euclid, has unveiled a new management module, the Business Service Catalogue. According to the company, users of the program can browse the catalogue, read descriptions of each service's function, get access to blueprints showing relationships and dependencies between the services and the underlying IT infrastructure, and look at both current and historical service quality relative to performance, availability, cost and demand. The software is said to consist of three parts, a Single View Console for allowing the visual monitoring of business processes, a Business Information Server, for processing data into relevant metrics, and an Information Broker that extracts data from existing applications to help in using the other two more effectively. IT must not only understand its impact on the business, but all stakeholders in the business must also understand the value IT is delivering to the operation, says Patty Azzarello, the president and CEO of Euclid. 'With this software, we are providing businesses with an unprecedented level of transparency into how IT is impacting the overall health of the business, and takes us a step further in providing the most complete and comprehensive BSM suite on the market,' she told SM365.
