Company plots legal action against mystery ‘information and technology solutions provider’

British broadcaster, BSkyB, has announced that it is ‘issuing and serving a claim in the near future for a material amount against an information and technology solutions provider, which had provided services to the Group as part of the Group's investment in Customer Relationship Management ("CRM") software and infrastructure’. The announcement was made as part of its preliminary results for the year ended 30 June 2004. A spokesperson for BSkyB refused to comment further on the case, but speculation suggests that the target of the action could be EDS, having won a contract to help the Murdoch owned satellite broadcaster update its contact centres with new technology back in 2000. The contract was terminated in 2002 after EDS pulled out citing changes to the specifications of the project. The original contract was valued at £60m. Malcolm George, director of marketing and communications at EDS, told SM365 that the company was very disappointed to hear that the broadcaster was considering legal action. ‘We can’t understand why BSkyB has brought this into the public domain now. We will vigorously defend any action taken against us,’ he added. |
